Mr Dennis Kosuge

Mr Dennis Kosuge is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon based in West Essex and East Hertfordshire. He holds a full-time NHS post at The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust, Harlow, and offers private consultations and surgery at The Rivers Hospital, Sawbridgeworth.
His sub-specialist interests are in hip surgery and knee surgery, and he has particular expertise in the management of complex and failed hip replacements. He also participates in the general trauma on-call rota, managing musculoskeletal trauma in adults and children.

Hip and knee osteoarthritis and arthritis
Failed joint replacements requiring revision surgery
Conditions amenable to knee arthroscopy (excluding ligament reconstruction)
Musculoskeletal trauma of the upper and lower limb

When not working, Mr Kosuge enjoys travelling with his wife Hannah, brushing up on his culinary skills and supporting Japanese football players in Europe. He recently enrolled onto a pottery course, with the hope of developing pottery into a life-long hobby.

Mr Kosuge is well-published in the field of Trauma & Orthopaedics, with numerous publications in peer reviewed journals. His list of PubMed listed journals may be found here. He has also published a number of other articles in a variety of orthopaedic platforms. He was co-author of an award winning presentation entitled ‘Surgical Technique for Reconstruction of Severe Acetabular Defects During Revision Total Hip Arthroplasty’ at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) in 2019. He is co-author of chapters in a number of orthopaedic textbooks that are popular amongst orthopaedic trainees. Mr Kosuge was Principal Investigator at The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust in 2025 for a national study entitled ‘Obesity and Arthritis of the Knee Study (OAKS)’.
