Mr Dennis Kosuge was appointed a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in 2015 and has more than a decade of experience in the surgical and non-surgical treatment of hip and knee conditions. He holds a full-time NHS post at The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust in Harlow and offers private consultations and surgery at The Rivers Hospital, Sawbridgeworth, caring for patients across West Essex and East Hertfordshire, including Harlow, Bishop's Stortford, Sawbridgeworth, Epping and Hertford.
His sub-specialist interests are hip and knee surgery, with particular expertise in the management of complex and failed hip replacements. He also participates in the general trauma on-call rota, managing musculoskeletal trauma in adults and children.

Mr Kosuge is well-published in Trauma & Orthopaedics, with peer-reviewed journal articles and co-authored chapters in orthopaedic textbooks used by trainees, including Basic Orthopaedic Sciences, the Stanmore and Royal London guide to orthopaedic trauma, and a guide to the FRCS (Trauma & Orthopaedics) examination. He was co-author of an award-winning presentation on reconstruction of severe acetabular defects in revision hip surgery at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) in 2019, and in 2025 was Principal Investigator at The Princess Alexandra Hospital for the national Obesity and Arthritis of the Knee Study (OAKS).
He is a reviewer for The Bone & Joint Journal, Fracture Clinic Lead at The Princess Alexandra Hospital, and an active trainer of future orthopaedic surgeons through AO Trauma.

Away from the clinic
When not working, Mr Kosuge enjoys travelling with his wife Hannah, developing his culinary skills, and following Japanese footballers playing in Europe. He has recently taken up a pottery course, which he hopes will become a life-long hobby.

Mr Kosuge completed his higher surgical training on the North-East Thames Percivall Pott Orthopaedic Training programme, which included training at The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Major Trauma Centre The Royal London Hospital and Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital. He then undertook subspecialty and competitive fellowships in hip and knee surgery in the United Kingdom, Australia and Japan.
