Mr Kosuge's Patient Reported Outcome Measures for Hip Replacement at Rivers Hospital

Mr Kosuge is pleased to report his latest patient outcomes following hip replacement surgery at Rivers Hospital, Sawbridgeworth.

The Oxford Hip Score is based on 12 questions that patients are asked that relate to pain and function of their hip. The lowest score is 12 (indicating immense pain and poor function) and the highest score is 48 (indicating no pain and excellent function). It is a tool that is used to assess patient symptoms and is now commonly used as one of many ways to assess outcomes after hip replacement surgery.

Patients who have undergone a total hip replacement by Mr Kosuge at Rivers Hospital have an average Oxford Hip Score of 42.84 at six-months post-operation. This is based on a response rate of 73.8% of patients who were sent the questionnaires, in keeping with what one would expect in terms of response rates. This is above the national average of 39.94 at six-months after a hip replacement.

If you have arthritis in your hip, Mr Kosuge would be delighted to make an assessment and discuss management options with you. To book an appointment to see Mr Kosuge:
